Shop Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the Logistics and Purchasing, the Shop Supervisor is responsible for leading shop personnel to ensure all load lists are prepared, loaded and delivered to assigned projects in a specified time. The Shop Supervisor will ensure the shop warehouse, yard, and inventory are updated, maintained, and accessible. Thomas Industrial Coatings is an equal opportunity employer.
TASKS:
- Supervise all personnel and operations in shop warehouse and yard
- Implement Safety program in accordance with company standards
- Create and maintain a safe, organized, and effective work environment
- Instructing employees in the recognition and avoidance of hazards
- Involvement in and enforcing the provisions of the accident prevention program and any other work practices or rules established
- Conducting daily inspections of the work areas and operations to identify, and if necessary, correct and document unsafe work practices or conditions
- Utilize iPad software/ computer portal to document all daily reporting
- Investigating all accidents to determine cause and corrective measures
- Organizing shop warehouse to maintain, access, and update inventory
- Ensures established policies, rules and regulations, and procedures are followed
- Determine best practice and establish policies and/ or procedures, as needed
- Supervises loading and unloading of trucks and verifies documentation
- Supervises repair of equipment and daily task of repairs with Lead Mechanic
- Ensures that all engine driven equipment is maintained prior to assigning to a project
- Understands our GPS platform and runs a daily maintenance check while adding and removing GPS devices as needed.
- Work with the Logistics Coordinator on scheduling for upcoming jobs
- Analyze load lists and ensure items are accurate for delivery
- Communicate with Project Teams for load lists and needs list
- Make necessary corrections and running adjustments, to equipment, to maintain maximum production and quality
- Test functionality of equipment and accessories prior to distribution
- Try out equipment after repairs, changeovers or extended downtime.
- Perform preventive maintenance check and inspection of assigned equipment, report findings to supervisor and take appropriate action
- Notify maintenance department or supervisor of recurring equipment malfunctions and corrective action taken, and of quality problems or supplies needed
- Operate a telehandler and or forklift when needed
- Supervises the maintenance of company property during inclement weather
- Attend and complete any and all educational classes that are required by the company

- Physical Ability- Physically stand or walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl for long periods, use arms and hands to reach for, handle, and manipulate objects, lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing 50 to 100 pounds, climb up and down ladders and scaffolds; Able to work productively in a variety of weather conditions
- Communication- Uses strong verbal and written communication skills to ensure tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner (via phone, email, text, and Tru App)
- Mental Alertness- Able to focus on multiple tasks simultaneously and in an efficient manner

- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), iPad/iPhone based applications, as well as proprietary software required
- Ability to use basic hand tools and trades type tools
- Knowledge and ability to work a Telehandler and forklift
- Knowledge of industrial painting and equipment

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND LICENSURE:
- Preferred: Associates degree from an accredited college or university
- Preferred: Experience in inventory, logistics management, and/ or production
- CPR, First Aid certification, OSHA 30, SSPC C-3 Worker Lead may be obtained prior to and/ or upon employment
- Valid Driver’s License, Forklift, Aerial Boom Lift, Confined Space
- Preferred: CDL
